Vita

Born on July 2nd, 1952 in Stuttgart. From 1961 basic musical education with Fritz Dollenmaier and Alfred Schatz. Having completed an apprenticeship as a plasterer in my father's workshop, the encounter with Ruth Mönch and Willi Seiler from the Süddeutsche Rundfunk Stuttgart gave my life a change towards music. Between 1970 and 1982, I became their permanent programme accompanist. The venues for "Bunte Abende" (social evenings) and artists' gala events took me as far as to the Saarland and the Swiss border. This period of time shaped me in terms of professionalism and programme direction. Being on stage with celebrities like Walter Schultheiss, Werner Veidt and Oskar Müller, accompanying singers such as Hansl Krönauer, Fred Rai and Christine Roeder and playing together with musicians of the Erwin Lehn Tanzorchester, Christa Behnke and Hubert Deuringer was an instructive time.
Günther Stoll died suddenly and unexpectedly on June 21, 2021.

Teaching and conducting work

1973 - 1980 Handharmonika - Club Ehningen

Already during my time in Ehningen, much-acclaimed events were performed. The common charity concert of the Liederkranz and the HHC in favour of the "Aktion Sorgenkind", the concert trips to the Swiss Bernese Oberland to Saanen and Gsteig as well as a ball night with Hubert Deuringer are just a few examples. The concerts featuring high-class accordion music in the music hall of the Friedrich Kammerer School had a deep impression on the players.

1975 - 1984 Handharmonika - Club Deckenpfronn

New event forms such as the concert series "Unterhaltendes am Samstagabend" (Entertainment on Saturday Night), the "Sichelhenke" (Hanging up the Sickles) and the concerts at the parish hall were created. In the field of education, a lot of start-up work was done for a new educational structure. The highlight was the club's 40th jubilee in 1976.

1978 - 1987 Harmonika - Spielring Rohrau

New stimuli for education and concerts at the HSR. A very special event was the club's 10th anniversary in 1979 with a guest performance of Ruth Mönch and Willi Seiler. Another highlight in the club's history was the concert trip to Rohrau/Lower Austria with a serenade for Countess Stefanie Harrach in her castle.

1984 - 2004 Harmonika Spielring Böblingen

Introduction of an educational structure for the HSB, following the example of a music school. The concerts of the first orchestra, where between 1984 and 2003 only upper and top level works were performed, received much attention. The orchestra gave concerts with Johannes Stephan (trumpet), Albrecht Volz (percussion), Peter Wachinger (traverse flute) and Elfi Wagner (soprano), to name just a few.
From 1985, the HSB youth presented themselves regularly at the Albert Einstein and the Lise Meitner Grammar Schools and contributed also to the event series "Sommer am See" (Summer by the Lake). The important co-operation with the schools of Böblingen was already launched in 1995. A new concept was developed for the "Akkordeon in der Schule" (Accordion at School) actions. In numerous common concerts with school choirs, the excellent repertoire selection and programme composition were widely praised.
Spectacular highlights were the "Showtime" entertainment concerts at the Europasaal of the Congress-Centrum-Böblingen (CCB) in 2000 and 2001. Owing to the initiative and outstanding commitment of some players, the combination of movie sequences, light effects and the appropriate music was performed by all HSB orchestras and, of course, presented and conducted in a professional manner..

1991 - March 2019 Harmonika - Verein Großbottwar, since 1991

Since September 1991 I have been the musical director of the first orchestra of the Harmonika Verein Großbottwar. The creation of new event structures gave the club a new profile within the club scene of Grossbottwar. Thus the entertaining concert "Musik ist Trumpf" (Music is the Word) and the "Konzert im Mai" (Concert in May) count among the highlights of the city's cultural programme, enthralling visitors from the whole region. In 2006 the harmonica club celebrated its 75th jubilee and is therefore just as old as the Deutsche Harmonika Verband (German Harmonica Association).

Handharmonika - Club Nufringen, since 1968

Having been the conductor of the youth orchestra since 1968, I took over the musical education of the accordion pupils in January 1972 and the conductorship of the first orchestra in September 1972..
Since that time, the HHC has shown a tremendous development from an idyllic village club to one of the largest accordion clubs in the district of Böblingen with more than 100 active members. Modern event structures, a demanding concert literature and the focus on its youth work: these are the trade marks of the Handharmonika Club Nufringen.

Appointed honorary conductor in 2018

Orchestervereinigung Rutesheim-Flacht, since 2008

Since January 2008 I have been the musical director of the Orchestervereinigung Rutesheim-Flacht.
An ambitious orchestra goes new ways.

Jury Activities

Since 1983 I have acted as a judge at various DHV (Deutscher Harmonika Verband) competitions.
2001, 2004, 2013 and 2016 appointed jury member at the "International World Music Festival Innsbruck".
At the invitation of DHV federal conductor Fritz Dobler, I took part in the DHV jury symposiums of 1990, 1992, 1995 and 2000.

Miscellaneous

Invitation to studio recordings at the SDR Stuttgart by editor Veit Erdmann. Several courses were held in my function as a lecturer.
Between 1984 and 1990 district conductor in the DHV district Würm-Nagold. Joined forces with Heinz Oettinger to create the solo and duo competitions of the district.
Responsible editor of a district information from 1988 until 1989.
Since 1986 amicable relationship with Gary Daverne, composer and conductor of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra in New Zealand, and Harley Jones, founder of the internet portal Akkordeon Weltweit (Accordion Worldwide).
Long-standing, amicable co-operation with accordion composer Adolf Götz, whose 60th birthday was celebrated with a gala concert featuring the orchestras of the HHC Nufringen.
